V2 pitch washers PostPosted: Fri Nov 24, 2006 10:28 am

Hi all

Does anyone know how the pitch adjustment washers of the V2 Piccolo work?

Are they wedge shaped to angle the blades? If so, how can you be sure they are aligned correctly ie they must have a front and back.

Can they be fitted to a V1?

thanks
Dave

Hi Dave,

If you look at the washers, you'll see that they will only fit one way, they have cut outs that stop them rotating when fitted between the head and the blade.

They are also in numbered pairs 1 to 3 so just make sure you fit a matched pair  d'oh!

Each numbered pair is recommended in the instructions for different effect , but yes they are wedge shaped and they will fit the V1.

Don't the pitch washers only increase Pitch ?
why would you want to do that ?

Better to Cut the blades and Increase rpm for a marked increase in Cyclic response
and stability.

Unless your still learning to fly   Angel

reflex: I think you have to fit one of the three supplied washers which select the pitch you want.

s2d: that answers my question thanks.

I don't have a V2, just a V1 and I was wondering whether fitting V2 washers would be possible and would allow me to reduce the pitch and improve forward flight as an alterative to blade modifications or replacements.

I can't see anything on my V1 head which the cut outs would lock into. Think

Never had a V2 and perhaps the Pitch Washers have been modified ?

It seems you now have 4 available pitch settings.

Download the manual at :-
http://www.ikarus-modellbau.de/Anleitungen/ecopiccolov2.pdf

Exploded views are given for fitting the Washers

They list Pitch Washers No. 3
as suitable for 3 cell Li-Po and outdoor flight.

Let us know how you get on

Hi all,
(nice to see you around the Piccolo forum Reflex!  Very Happy )
well as I understand it, the pitch blades are intented to reduce pitch, on 3 different values depending on which pair of them you use.
I tried them and it was not bad, but I could not see improvement without changing to a bigger pinion.
To fit them, just put them between head and blades, and be sure to have same tension in both blade screws of course.
Best flights!
Toni
