Fun-Key Fuselage Spares? PostPosted: Mon Feb 04, 2008 9:50 am

Hi Guys,

late last summer I managed a tail boom strike on my Fun-Key Bell 222 fuse which was hung on my Rappy 50.  During the winter I thought I'd sort it out, but the stabilisers are completely wrecked, and I feel they are beyond my skills to make, so I thought I'd buy spares.  I've spent weeks now trying to find out from someone (anyone) whether I can buy them.  So far, the importers here in the UK have not returned phone calls or emails, and the shop I bought it from in the UK hasn't replied either. I managed to find a URL for Fun-Key but you have to be registered to get on their site.

Does anyone know how to get in touch with Fun-Key or where to get spares from?

This was my first go at scale, and up until now I was well pleased.  Had I known this was going to happen, I'd never have bothered, because if there's no spares available I'm going to be stuck with a very expensive pile of fibre glass c***p!  Mad

Is this what you're after: http://www.centuryheli.com/products/fuselages/funkey/CN4039A/index.html?currentid=178

Down towards the bottom of the page they list CN4039-3, (vertical and horizontal stabilizers), for $60.

GhostWolf, you are my hero!
As I'd said, I've looked everywhere, but clearly missed this.

Sometimes you can't see the wood...

Many thanks,

Bob

I thought I'd add an update to this - I have tried to order from Century US but their ordering system won't supply to me in the UK (that's assuming they even have them in the first place).  I have left numerous messages to them via their web site asking for help, and they haven't bothered to reply.  I contacted Century in the UK and after many months of emailing back and forth, even they have now admitted that they have severe problems getting spares and fuselages from Century US, and can't get them for me either.  So I tried to contact Century US once again, and still I don't get a reply.

I wish I could recommend others who might be interested in scale to buy a fuse supplied by this firm, but I can't.  Their customer service as appalling.  And while the people they employ in the UK have tried to help, the truth is they can't.

I had held off repairing the damage until I could get these parts, but now I've collected together all the bits I have and will attempt to make them myself. If only I'd thought to make templates of them before assembly - others learn from my mistake!!!  I have to say the fuse is beautifully made and finished, but what use is that if you can't get parts when you have the inevitable 'mishaps'?  I now have this big investment just sitting there and as I'm no longer working there's no way I can afford to go further in scale.  I'm so furious that I feel like kicking it up in the air!

In short, my customer experience means I will never again go near anything which is made by Century.  They are b******s.

Even if no-one ever reads this I still feel better just getting it off my chest :9)

Well, it's been read.

Gotta admit that it's somewhat disheartening that they haven't improved their service over the years - in spite of their move to better facilities and their promise to provide better service.

I just checked the Century site again, and found links to two other sites that provide parts.  One of them is www.heli-world.com, whose site claims to have the part in stock:

http://www.heli-world.com/SearchResult.aspx?KeyWords=cn4039-3&All=True

Here's hoping their claim is better than Century's.

There was a time that you could purchase them through Century direct but now you can't.  If you try to purchase (Click BUY NOW) from their web-site it directs you to one of their several "other" vendors one of which is Heli-World.  Some of these vendors do not carry a wide range of parts for Century helicopters, better still only ONE really carries spares for their fuselages.

Couldnt you just makesome out of balsa or foam and cover with fibreglass.
If you want hollow ones use foam and scrape it out once hardened? Think

That is exactly what I started to do a few days ago.  I just didn't want to go that route since my fuselage needs a lot of work to get things in order.  Having to make fins from scratch isn't fun for me. LOL
